Career Ready student just completed a month internship with the Project

Sabir Simsek a High School student has just completed a month’s internship with the project as part of the Scottish Government’s Career Ready programme. This initiative offers the opportunity for young people to gain an insight into the world of work to enable them to think about their career choices and to give them confidence about their abilities to be able to contribute to the work environment .Sabir’s interest is in engineering and construction .

Sabir was able to gain experience of historic building restoration work and the community engagement and training plan in place as part of the PHRP. She produced two reports looking at repurposing historic vacant buildings and was able to assist with the running of the heritage skills workshops and produced a brief report for the project archivist in relation to St Mungo’s Churchyard .
