9th June 2022

Students from Penicuik High and Beeslack schools have just completed the repair and restoration work to some areas of the stone boundary walls in St Mungo’s churchyard.Over 3.5 weeks 18 students under the expert guidance of Craig Frew Conservation Ltd carried out the repair , which involved raking out defective cement mortar and then repairing and repointing with a lime mortar. Some new coping stones were provided on the top of the wall under the supervision of the stone masons working with the students. Feedback from the school and the students has been very positive and it is hoped that all the students will receive certificates in recognition of their work at a presentation ceremony to be held in the Town Hall later in the year.
