Replacement stone carving

Work is continuing on the restoration of Penicuik Town Hall . Some of the original red sandstone facing on the building needs to be replaced with new stone to match . One particular decorative carved stone panel is in such poor condition that a new stone carving will replace it . Ashwood Scotland Ltd the contractor has masons that are able to carry out the work . This illustrates the importance of traditional construction skills training to ensure that we have the expertise to be able to care for our historic buildings and keep them in good condition for the future.
