Edinburgh College workshops ..Traditional Construction Skills Training

As part of the Penicuik Heritage Regeneration Project(PHRP), training plan workshops were delivered by one of our training providers , Edinburgh College at their campus at the College Forthside workshops for students at Penicuik High and Beeslack schools . 12 students from each school attended over two days , 28th and 30th March and undertook two workshops , one on stone dressing and carving and the other on slate dressing and roofing .The students were provided with a mini bus to transport them to and from the schools to the College . They had a health and safety seminar before their hands on experience working with natural stone and slate .

The students enjoyed the event and look forward to the next phase of the training plan , on site repair and repointing of some of the stone boundary walls to St Mungo’s Churchyard in Penicuik.
