Heritage school drama with Macastory

Macastory, Fergus McNicol and Ron Fairweather, professional story tellers have been commissioned by the Penicuik Heritage Regeneration Project (PHRP) to work with schools in Penicuik to create stories about the history and heritage of the area. They have produced a video that is on line  atwww.penicuikheritage.org.uk which captures some of Penicuik’s fascinating history . They have over the last couple of years been working with local schools encouraging pupils to produce stories of their own . Recently they have been working with the teachers and pupils at Mauricewood  primary school  in Penicuik on a drama production which was performed at the school on November 30th 2022.Two P7 classes were involved  in the production. 98 people attended, parents , relations, and staff and approximately 30 pupils.were involved. .The drama comprised a series of sketches about some of Penicuik’s history , with dialogue, songs  and a great deal of fun .It was a great event , enjoyed by all and an exciting way to learn something about the history and heritage of the town. The school intends to make it part of the curriculum.
