Penicuik Town Hall Restoration Completed

The restoration of Penicuik Town Hall has been completed . This is a high priority project and grants from the Penicuik Heritage Regeneration Project (PHRP) and the Scottish Government’s Town Centre Capital Fund has enabled the stonework to be restored with new stone to match the original where required, and repointed in a lime mortar.The roof has been restored with replacement slates and leadwork where necessary to also match the original.

Work has also included the installation of solar panels on the rear roof and a new Combined Heat and Power plant to replace the old boilers . This will provide a more sustainable and energy efficient system for the future. To celebrate the completion of the work an opening event is planned for Saturday 27th November at the Town Hall . Local community groups , funders , partners , the design team and others involved in the project will be invited to come along .
