Students from Beeslack School start on site training

This week 6 students from Beeslack School in Penicuik are taking part in the PHRP traditional construction skills training plan. They will be repairing some areas of the stone boundary walls around St Mungo’s Churchyard in Penicuik.Under the supervision of Craig Frew Conservation Ltd they will be given expert instruction on how to rake out old cement mortar and repoint the wall using a traditional lime mortar mix . They will also be given instruction on how to replace badly weathered areas of stonework with new stone to match the original.

St Mungo’s Church have kindly agreed to let the students use the church hall for their welfare facilities . Next week it will be the turn of students from Penicuik High School.
