The Penicuik Handy Guide

This Guide was published in 1900 by John P Thompson a Penicuik Chemist.It promoted the health benefits of the town , located in an attractive setting below the Pentland Hills with easy transport links (it had a railway at the time). The guide praises Penicuik , branding it as a health resort.

The Archivist for the PHRP , Sean Watson has summarised the guide , see attached , The Penicuik Handy Guide summary, and a series of cartoons have been produced for the schools to bring the story to life with references as to what is happening today with summer holidays being more restricted due to the Pandemic.
